Inappropriate Medications in the Pediatric Population

Prevention of inappropriate prescribing of medications in pediatrics is way pharmacists can prevent adverse effects in our patient population. The program will focus on an article published in the Journal of Pediatric Pharmacology and Therapeutics titled Key Potentially Inappropriate Drugs in Pediatrics: The KIDs List. This list of medications is similar to the Beers List that is utilized for inappropriate prescribing in elderly patients however, this focuses on the pediatric population and can be used to reduce the risk of adverse drug events in the pediatric population in all pharmacy settings.
