On Saturday, March 20, 2021, the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy is hosting the 10th Annual Pharmacy Professionalism and Advocacy Conference: a VIRTUAL Campus Convention through the APhA Academy of Student Pharmacists.

This is a unique event that is tailored to both current pharmacy students and pre-pharmacy students as well as high school students. The goal of the event is to provide students with a feel of how regional and national conventions are organized and to show the educational and networking advantages obtained from attending these events. Students will hear about different pharmacy career paths available and will learn about the importance of getting involved and advocating for the profession of pharmacy.

Pharmacy Students:

  • See what a day in the life of a Pharmacy resident is like
  • Learn about current pharmacy legislation at the state and federal levels
  • Hear from leaders about why it is important for pharmacy students and pharmacists to have a voice in legislative matters
  • Learn about the future job market and how to prepare after graduation
  • Listen to pharmacists speak on specific pharmacy careers including health systems, independent pharmacy, informatics technology, managed care, retail/chain pharmacy, ambulatory care and research, specialty, and compounding
  • Attend networking panel and expand your professional network
  • Expand you professional network
  • Learn about summer opportunities

Pre-Pharmacy Students:

  • Meet practicing pharmacists and learn about the various pharmacy career paths
  • Meet pharmacy leaders and discuss issues and current events that affect the profession
  • Learn about the KU School of Pharmacy application process and interview tips
  • Learn about current pharmacy legislation at the state and federal levels
  • Meet KU School of Pharmacy faculty and administrators
  • Get to know other students and expand your professional network
  • Talk to and ask questions of current pharmacy students about what pharmacy school is like
