Uterine fibroids (UF) are estrogen and progesterone-dependent non-malignant tumors of the uterus that cause significant morbidity in symptomatic women. Common symptoms include heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB), anemia from blood loss, pelvic pressure, and/or pelvic pain. The primary symptom of UF is HMB, which can significantly burden patients and lead to anemia. This talk will review the following.


  1. Pathophysiology/ Epidemiology of uterine fibroids
  2. Burden of Disease
  3. Overview of current treatment options and guidelines for HMB associated with Uterine Fibroids.
  4. New treatment options for HMB associated with UF.
